InsightCM Server Can Ping the cRIO but Is Not Able to Connect

Issue Details

The cRIO is connected to the network and responds to ping requests from the InsightCM Server. The device status LEDs indicate normal operation. However, the InsightCM Server is not able to establish a connection to the cRIO, and the device does not appear as connected in InsightCM.

This behavior may occur after an image push, device formatting, or a system upgrade.

Solution / Procedure

1. Verify that no firewall rules or third‑party applications are blocking communication between the InsightCM Server and the cRIO.

2. Confirm that the cRIO has the correct InsightCM image installed, especially after formatting or upgrading the device.

3. From the InsightCM Server, attempt to access the following URLs using the cRIO IP address:

  • http://IPaddress:8002/device/hardwareinfo
  • http://IPaddress:8002/device/logfiles
  • http://IPaddress:8002/device/connectioninfo

If no pages return a response, the InsightCM application may not be running on the cRIO.

4. Navigate to:

http://IPaddress/files/home/lvuser/natinst/LabVIEW%20Data/InsightCM/app/

File directory 1.png

When running correctly, this directory contains multiple files and folders.

File directory 2.png

Check the ni-rt.ini file and verify console out is set to false.

5. If needed, disable console out using the ConsoleOutUtility:

Download the utility, on the the InsightCM Server, unzip it, and run the following command from Command Prompt:

DisableConsoleOut.exe -- IPAddress

Allow the cRIO to restart and verify connectivity from the InsightCM Server.

In case you do not have the Console Out Utility, please contact Support Team to give you executable.
