Issue Details
When attempting to upgrade the firmware from InsightCM, the option to update firmware is not available under the Device Configuration section. This prevents users from performing firmware upgrades directly within InsightCM.
Solution / Procedure
For InsightCM versions earlier than 3.10:
- Navigate to Device Configuration
- Select the Software tab
- Click on the Action Menu

Select Update Firmware
For InsightCM version 3.10 or later:
- Open NI MAX
- Under Remote Systems, select the target device
- Navigate to the System Settings tab
- Click the Update Firmware button
- In the firmware selection window:
- By default, the correct directory should load automatically
- If not, navigate to: <Program Files>\National Instruments\Shared\Firmware\
- Select the appropriate Device Family folder (e.g., Ethernet cRIO)
- Choose the correct firmware file
- Click Open
- Click Begin Update
