Where to Locate the Logs for a Failed InsightCM Installation

Issue Details

Installation logs are critical for troubleshooting failed InsightCM installations or upgrades because they provide a detailed, chronological record of each action performed by the installer. These logs capture service creation, dependency checks (such as Erlang, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, .NET), configuration steps, and any errors or warnings encountered during execution. By reviewing the logs, support and engineering teams can pinpoint the exact failure point, distinguish between environmental issues, dependency conflicts, and determine whether the failure occurred during installation, upgrade, or post-install configuration. 

Software version

Any ICM version above 3.8.7

Solution

  1. Most of the log files can be found on this path. 

    C:\ProgramData\Cutsforth\InsightCM\Logs
  2. There are cases where this folder may be empty or missing files. In those situations, check the following location:
  3. C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Temp

    Note: You can access the folder by using  %AppData% in File Explorer, and then navigating to Local\Temp
