Summary:

Instructions on accessing and downloading system recordings to avoid data loss using a USB 2.0 flash drive.

Downloading the Baseline Recordings

Baseline recordings are created by the system automatically every six hours. To avoid data loss in the event of an SD drive failure, Cutsforth recommends that you back up the baseline recordings at least quarterly.

The baseline recordings are stored in the D:\Baseline Recordings\ folder and are not accessible via the CMS File Manager. You must access the files through the Windows File Explorer.

NOTE

It is recommended that you use a USB 2.0 splitter for this operation so you can have a USB mouse attached along with the flash drive. When using the touch screen monitor, it is easy to inadvertently move folders. Cutsforth is not responsible for any files that are incorrectly moved, deleted, or renamed. Such changes may cause the CMS to malfunction.

To download baseline recordings

  1. Exit the CMS application by clicking the X in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the D:\ drive.

  3. Right-click the D:\Baseline Recordings\ folder and click Properties.

  4. Note the size of the files stored in this folder. This determines how much free space you need on your flash drive to copy these files.

  5. Right-click the D:\Baseline Recordings\ folder and click Copy.

  6. Insert a formatted USB 2.0 flash drive.

  7. Right-click the E:\ drive and choose Paste. The folder is copied to the root directory of the flash drive.

  8. When the copy has finished, remove the flash drive and copy the files to your plant’s designated permanent storage location. Confirm that the files copied successfully prior to returning to the Windows File Explorer to delete the files.

  9. Browse to the D:\Baseline Recordings\ folder. This folder contains all the .tdms and index files that have been created. Select the files and delete them. Do not delete the folder. The CMS application requires it. Deleted files cannot be recovered.

  10. When finished, restart the CMS application by one of the following methods:

    • On the task bar, click the CMS application icon.

    • Restart the CMS completely, and the application automatically launches.
